Northeastern University and Rogers Corp. on Tuesday officially launched the Rogers Innovation Center in Burlington, a 4,000-square-foot space housed within the George J. Kostas Research Institute for Homeland Security.

The Rogers Innovation Center is a joint partnership with between specialty materials manufacturer Rogers Corp., based in Connecticut, and Northeastern University. The new space, on the second floor of the 70,000-square-foot Kostas Research Institute, includes laboratories, meeting space and office space for Rogers’ personnel, said David Luzzi, executive director of the strategic security initiative at Northeastern University.

Rogers Corp., Northeastern and others – for example, the U.S. Army – have invested about $10 million so far in the Rogers Innovation Center, Luzzi said. That amount reflects the cost to build-out the second floor space, outfitting it with equipment and the like, and also the investment in initial research projects.
