The Boston Business Journal last week announced the honorees for its annual Champions in Health Care program featuring 13 professionals and organizations at the leading edge of the region’s world-class health care system.

Dr. Manuel Guillermo Herrera-Acena, a physician who has been at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for 55 years, has been named the Lifetime Achievement winner for this year’s Champions class. Herrera-Acena, who emigrated from Guatemala and graduated with a medical degree from Harvard University in 1957, has dedicated his life to making it easier for Latinos to get access to quality medical care in Boston and around the world.

He and the other dozen honorees will be featured in a special section in the Aug. 16 edition of the BBJ.

Innovator/research:

• Omid Farokhzad, director of laboratory of nanomedicine and biomaterials; Brigham and Women’s Hospital; and associate professor of anesthesia, Harvard Medical School

• John Lambert, executive VP & chief scientific officer; and Ravi Chari,distinguished research fellow in chemistry, ImmunoGen

• Dr. Jonathan L. Tilly, co-founder, OvaScience; chairman and professor, department of biology, Northeastern University
