  • What an ‘Adversity Score’ Misses

The Wall Street Journal - 09/04/2019

The College Board’s data rely on correlations, but each individual has a unique set of circumstances distinct from their neighborhood’s overall statistics. Instead of taking that into account, the adversity-score approach depersonalizes the admissions process and hurts students who may have every bit as much grit and resourcefulness as those the College Board deems disadvantaged.
