  • Solidarity march postponed after authorities fear security too thin

    Boston Herald - 03/27/2016

Organizers behind a solidarity march in Brussels walked away from the event they had planned today after Belgian authorities said they feared the show of resilience would stretch their limited security forces too thin.

Pressure put on organizers to hold off on the march shows “the government is highly cognizant of the fact that the (terrorist) network is not under wraps, that the network is large and that there are still members who are unaccounted for,” Max Abrahms, a Northeastern University professor and terrorism expert, told the Herald.

“It makes sense for the government to be very cautious about basically giving the terrorists any low-hanging fruit by marching very publicly in the street,” Abrahms said.
