  • ‘Slender Man’ recedes in Wisconsin stabbing case as mental health becomes issue

    The Washington Post - 07/03/2014

Jack Levin, a professor of sociology and criminology at Northeastern University, told The Post the emphasis in this case has been on the girls’ relationship to Slender Man when it should be on their relationship to each other.

“This was a secret shared by two girls, a plan hatched in private, a pact made between them,” he said. “During that time, it brought them closer together. It vitalized their relationship. For 12-year-old girls, friendship means everything. It’s easy to blame the Internet. The truth is, it had much more to do with the relationship between the girls.”
