    Overtime can also be addicting experts say because officers begin to need the extra pay to support their lifestyle.

    Jack R. Greene, a School of Criminology and Criminal Justice professor at Northeastern University, said, “At some point the overtime begins to own you because you need the overtime to maintain a lifestyle . . . but if they have to work 90 hours a week what kind of lifestyle is that?”
