  • Northeastern and Bay Path universities receive millions in federal grant funding

    Boston Business Journal - 09/30/2014

Two Massachusetts universities are among 24 nationwide that have received millions of dollars in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Education, the federal agency announced Tuesday.

Northeastern University received $3.9 million and Bay Path University in Longmeadow received $3.5 million as part of the Department of Education’s First in the World grant program. In Northeastern University’s case, the money will launch a new program called the Lowell Institute Innovation Incubator.

The program, which distributed $75 million total in grants, is designed to help colleges and universities come up with new ways of increasing access to college and improving how well students learn while they are there, the Department of Education said in a press release.
