  • L.A. schools shutdown could spawn copycats

    Boston Herald - 12/16/2015

“These threats are so easy to issue and in today’s day and age, they are understandably being taken very seriously,” Northeastern University professor Max Abrahms said. “I’m worried that there will be copycat hoaxes now that it’s been shown to be effective.”

The nation’s two biggest school systems, New York City and Los Angeles, received threats of a Muslim extremist attack with guns and bombs. LA reacted by closing more than 900 public schools and 187 charter schools attended by 640,000 students, while New York opted to hold class as usual.
