  • Healey: ‘I was accepted’

    Boston Herald - 05/23/2015

Tucked into a commencement speech filled with memories and lessons, Attorney General Maura Healey yesterday shared a piece of herself with a room full of future lawyers at Northeastern University.

The nation’s first openly gay attorney general opened up about coming out.

“When I came here, I was accepted,” Healey told the Northeastern University School of Law class of 2015 yesterday. “I was accepted by my peers. I was accepted by our faculty. And it was OK because this was a school that to its very fiber … celebrates equality and
diversity.”
