    The risk and response to campus sexual assault has been a blazing hot topic as of late, not just at our nation’s colleges and universities but on Capitol Hill as well. The often-repeated yet exaggerated claimthat one in five college females are sexually assaulted during their undergraduate years has pushed congressional legislation designed to reduce the peril.

    At the same time, a string of high-profile lawsuits brought by rape victims against their school administrations has prompted the Department of Education to launch investigations at dozens of institutions concerning their policies and procedures for handling sexual assault allegations.
