  • Great Britain votes to leave European Union

    Boston Herald - 06/24/2016

Observers were predicting dire consequences for the European Union itself, as well as Britain and the United States.

“It will weaken the EU,” said Alan Clayton-Matthews, an economist at Northeastern University. “Britain is a major economy. … This will be a blow to the EU. The major blow is, with other European countries, if Britain did it, they might do it, too.”

The British vote not only sets an example others might follow, but puts pressure on the
European Union to reform.
