Event management software startup Attendware raises $1M from .406 Ventures
Boston Business Journal - 06/25/2013
Boston startup Attendware, which offers software for event check-in and auto-generated name tag printing, on Tuesday said it has raised a $1 million Series A round from .406 Ventures of Boston.
Attendware’s product was initially developed at Northeastern University last August. That’s where co-founder Greg Skloot headed the university Entrepreneurs Club — and found shortcomings in current event management software.
Attendware’s product “enables event organizers to effortlessly capture attendance data and easily report on key metrics to measure event success,” according to a news release. Attendware also automates name tag printing and other time-consuming aspects of events, the company says.
The software “turns any laptop or tablet into a check-in kiosk” that’s used to take attendance, auto-generate name tags, send text alerts for VIP arrivals and manage real-time attendee data, Attendware says.
The startup reports having 10 customers — with Northeastern University among them — who have used the software to autoprint name tags for tens of thousands of attendees at events.
