    According to the GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities, Northeastern University as the greenest university in America in 2011, and the second greenest in the world that year, behind the University of Nottingham in the UK. Two buildings, Dockser Hall and International Village, have earned LEED Gold certification. The University’s dining services also takes green measures, such as composting waste.
