    A brazen knife attack in Belgium that left two police officers with stab wounds and is believed to be terror-related may be the result of the Islamic State call for random, small-scale attacks across the globe, one local expert warns.

    “This group is decentralizing. The Islamic State leadership is telling people to commit acts locally — many fighters are returning home,” Northeastern University professor and terror expert Max Abrahms told the Herald, adding that the attack is “part of a broader, unmistakable trend.”

    A knife-wielding man stabbed two police officers in the Schaerbeek neighborhood of Brussels around noon yesterday, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement
