Northeastern recruits top cybersecurity expert from Google to lead new institute

John Manferdelli, engineering director at Google, will head the Northeastern University Cybersecurity and Privacy Institute, which will leverage the leading expertise of College of Computer and Information Science faculty members.

Northeastern signs historic agreement with University of Havana

President Aoun signed the agreement—the most comprehensive academic initiative by an American institution in Cuba—last week during a visit to Cuba, where he led a delegation of Northeastern faculty and staff and members of Congress. The collaboration expands upon Northeastern’s strategic partnerships in Cuba aimed at fostering novel research partnerships and educational opportunities for students.

Massachusetts campuses to follow delayed schedule Monday

Northeastern’s Massachusetts campuses will operate on a delayed schedule today. Classes with a scheduled start time before 10 a.m. are canceled. Classes with a start time at or after 10 a.m. will meet as scheduled. Administrative offices will open at 10 a.m.

Northeastern’s Massachusetts campuses will resume operations at 9:45 a.m. Friday. Classes with a scheduled start time before 9:45 a.m. are canceled. Classes with a start time at or after 9:45 a.m., including the 9:50 class block, will meet as scheduled. Administrative offices will open at 9:45 a.m.

Thursday classes canceled at Mass. campuses, administrative offices closed

The National Weather Service is forecasting that up to a foot of snow may fall on the Boston area on Thursday, creating hazardous travel conditions. As a result, Northeastern has canceled all day and evening classes at its Massachusetts campuses, and closed administrative offices.
