It’s a Husky fight for the Hockey East Championship
The Northeastern women’s hockey team is looking to capture its seventh Hockey East title on Saturday.

It’s going to be a Husky fight on Saturday, as the Northeastern University women’s hockey team takes the ice against the University of Connecticut for the Hockey East Championship.
The Northeastern Huskies will play the UConn Huskies at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, in Storrs, Connecticut. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNEWS.
It is the Northeastern Huskies’ 10th-straight appearance in the Hockey East Championship game, and the team is looking to capture its seventh Hockey East title.
They have some momentum in their skates.
On Wednesday, freshman Stryker Zablocki was named the Cammi Granato Award winner as Hockey East Player of the Year and the Pro Ambitions Co-Rookie of the Year for the 2025-2026 season.
Zablocki is the first freshman to win both honors since Boston College’s Daryl Watts in 2017-2018 and is the first Northeastern player in program history to accomplish the feat.
Sophomore Lisa Jönsson was also named the Hockey East Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Month for February.
Jönsson posted a 4-1-0 record in February with a 1.28 goals against average and .961 save percentage.
The championship game will be the fourth meeting of the two Huskies teams this season. Northeastern, ranked No. 5 nationally and the top seed in the Hockey East tournament, won the three previous meetings. UConn, ranked No. 6 and the second seed in the tournament, has kept the games increasingly close, however, with the last meeting between the rivals resulting in a 3-2 Northeastern win in overtime.
