For the next two weeks, sales of Northeastern-branded hoodies, T-shirts and mugs from commencement ceremonies on the Boston campus will benefit the We Care student emergency fund.
For the next two weeks, Northeastern is holding a sale of university-branded merchandise left over from commencement exercises on the Boston campus for faculty and staff. And it’s for a good cause: between May 21 and June 6, proceeds of all merch orders through the university’s Advancement office will benefit the We Care student emergency fund. Now in its third year, the initiative has raised approximately $30,000 for the fund so far.
You can order online until June 6; purchases will be available for pickup on June 11 at Curry Crossroads on the Boston campus between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Items cannot be shipped.
Northeastern’s We Care office is a network dedicated to supporting students who face unforeseen personal challenges that may impact their academic progress. The office’s emergency fund can offer temporary assistance when those challenges are financial.
“For instance, if a student needs a car to drive to and from co-op and it breaks down, they may not have anticipated needing money for that,” says Sarah Pelletier, senior associate director of leadership relations for Northeastern’s Advancement office. Covering a car repair “is one of the ways it can help.”
There are hoodies, T-shirts, stuffies, insulated mugs bearing the names of individual colleges and more. Browse here.
