Mindfulness series

Throughout the Summer 1 term, the Center for Spirituality, Dialogue, and Service is offering mindfulness practices that focus on bringing attention to thoughts, emotions, and body awareness. Drop-in guided meditation and yoga sessions are offered Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m.; Wednesdays from 12:15 to 1 p.m.; and Thursdays from 10 to 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Space at 200 Ell Hall.

Perspectives: Transforming violence through art-making

Join civic leaders and community artists at Northeastern Crossing on Thursday, June 8 at 6 p.m. for a workshop on the role of art-making and mindfulness in confronting the impact of interpersonal and community violence.

Pride parade

Northeastern students, faculty, and staff will represent the university in this year’s Boston Pride Parade on Saturday, June 10. To march with the Northeastern group, gather at the Avalon Apartments common room, 77 Exeter St., at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Cinema by the Sea

The Marine Science Center’s annual film screening series, Cinema by the Sea, continues this month with a showing of Ocean Frontiers III: Leaders in Ocean Stewardship and the New Blue Economy on Tuesday, June 13 at 7 p.m. Films are screened in the Murphy Bunker at the Marine Science Center in Nahant, Massachusetts.

International research conference

The Center for Emerging Markets will host the Journal of World Business Paper Development Workshop, a two-day conference where professors, doctoral students, and practitioners from around the world will discuss topics at the intersection of global strategy and emerging markets. The two-day event will be held at the Fenway Center on Thursday, June 15, and Friday, June 16, starting at noon on Thursday. Registration is required.

Arts in the Plaza

The Gateway Series in Ruggles Plaza is back. The program, co-hosted by Northeastern Crossing and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, features live painting and performances, pop-up street poetry, and artist-led workshops. Kick off the start of summer with a harmony of unique experiences for the eyes and ears, starting at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15.

Health reform: What’s next?

Join this town hall-style meeting to hear about and discuss current events surrounding health reform in the U.S. The event will be held on Wednesday, June 21 at noon in 250 Dockser Hall.
