Following the remarks, speakers gather on stage for the big moment: the ceremonial ribbon cutting to officially mark ISEC’s opening. The audience cheers as red ribbons hanging from above the stage are cut, after which visitors are encouraged to immerse themselves in the interactive research showcase spread throughout ISEC’s atrium.
The Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex, which is located on Columbus Avenue, has received an award that recognizes “the single most beautiful building or other structure” that was built in the metropolitan Boston area in the past 10 years. ISEC, as the building is known, was designed by Payette to expand Northeastern’s capacity to conduct groundbreaking research.
