Daniel Lim spent his first semester at Northeastern in Dublin through the university’s N.U.in program and arrived in Boston after winter break eager to get involved on campus. Specifically, he and a friend were interested in hosting a radio show about their shared passion for cars, and they attended the 2015 Winter Involvement Fair to learn more about the student-run radio station WRBB.

Their introduction to WRBB board members ultimately led to the pair getting a show, “Kicking Tires,” which to date has aired more than 50 episodes and returns to airwaves this semester.

“WRBB has become a huge part of the Northeastern experience for me,” said Lim, DMSB’19, now a third-year year student majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing and minoring in music.

Lim, who is now WRBB’s general manager, is eager to meet and engage with fellow students interested in learning more about the station at this year’s Winter Involvement Fair, just as he did two years ago.

The fair on Tuesday, 5-7 p.m., in the Curry Student Center. Tables will be spread out across the building in the indoor quad, West Addition, ballroom, McLeod Suites, and dance studios. Here, we give you a closer look at what is planned and three reasons why you should attend:

Learn more about student organizations to join
Representatives from many of the more than 350 student organizations on campus will be on hand tabling at the fair—including Nicole Reppucci, a senior and co-president of the NU Downhillers Ski and Snowboard Club. Reppucci, E’17, signed up for the club’s email list during her freshman year and has been involved ever since. The club organizes weekly trips on Saturdays during the spring semester to local mountains, with about 150 students on each trip.

To make the most of the fair, Reppucci recommended that students, particularly those attending for the first time, keep an open mind and sign up for anything that interests them. “At first it can be overwhelming,” she said, “but if you take the time to go up and talk to people, you can get some valuable information.”

Sarah Weiner, assistant director of student engagement in the Center for Student Involvement, added: “We hope that this event will give students an opportunity to explore the Curry Student Center, connect with each other, and explore ways to get involved.”

Discover campus programs and resources, and how to get involved
A number of university offices and programs will be there to meet with students, including the Center of Community Service, Center for Student Involvement, Center for Financial Independence, and Off-Campus Student Services. Representatives from the N.U.in program will be also be recruiting ambassadors at the fair, while the LGBTQA Resource Center and Center for Intercultural Engagement will also be open throughout the event.

Come for the entertainment and refreshments
Members of the improv group NU & Improv’d and a cappella groups Unisons and Distilled Harmony will be performing live in afterHOURS during the fair. Also, there will be giveaways, and Campus Crossroads will have free cookies and coffee for students. The game room, Paws Plays, will keep its regular hours during the fair, remaining open until 10 p.m.
