Northeastern University students, faculty, and staff have organized a number of collection drives for toys, books, clothing, food, and toiletries to help people in need this holiday season. Here’s a list of campus drives and how you can contribute:
The Center for Spirituality, Dialogue, and Service is collecting food, clothing and toiletries through Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. and then distributing the goods in care packages to Boston’s homeless on Dec. 5. Please drop off the goods—including bottled water, hand sanitizer, and socks, as well as crackers, deodorant, and gloves—to the center’s office in 203 Ell Hall. For more information, contact Ronak Padukone at email@example.com.
The Student Academy of Audiology is organizing a winter hat drive for Friends of Boston’s Homeless. All hats must be dropped off at the Speech-Language and Hearing Center in room 503 of the Behrakis Health Sciences Center by Dec. 4. For more information, contact Julianne Harris at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Latino/a Student Cultural Center is partnering with Hildebrand Family Self-help Center of Cambridge, Massachusetts, to make holiday wishes come true for more than four dozen children and young adults. To sponsor a child, contact Rosa Torres at 617.373.5845 or LSCC@neu.edu. All gifts must be dropped off at the Latino/a Student Cultural Center at 104 Forsyth St. by Dec. 11.
The Russell J. Call Children’s Center is sponsoring a drive for new and gently-used baby blankets and coats up to size 5T. The drive will benefit Room to Grow, a local nonprofit dedicated to enriching the lives of babies born into poverty. Please drop off the goods at 1 Fencourt St. by Dec. 11 and contact Regina Nazzaro at 617.373.3929 or email@example.com for more information.
The Office of City and Community Affairs is organizing a toy and clothing drive for local families in need. Collection bins are located at 716 Columbus Ave., suite 526, and the deadline to donate items—new toys and board books as well as new or gently worn coats—is Dec. 18. For more information, contact Leigh Pierson at 617.373.3168 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
