December 12, 2012 – Senior mechanical engineering students Charles O’Connell, David Stone, Andrew Edgerly, Charles Sidoti and Joseph Aaron display their instrument for securing hernia mesh, one of two winning designs in the semester’s Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Capstone projects. The reusable device, which implants helical screws to hold surgical mesh in place, uses a novel rotary drive (pictured) to provide tactile feedback to surgeons performing laparoscopic surgery.
