Northeastern University Career Services Wins GE Partnership Award

University holds its largest fall career fair

Boston, Mass. – Northeastern University Career Services has been awarded this year’s General Electric (GE) Partnership Award. The award recognizes Northeastern University as an ongoing and significant resource for professional talent at GE. The University has also been distinguished as one of GE’s top 40 Executive schools because of Northeastern’s crucial role in the success of its mission and leadership in the global marketplace. GE has greatly benefited from Northeastern University co-op students and graduates alike, and on October 2, the University held its fall Mega Career Fair.

“The GE Partnership Award is a testament to the excellent education and co-op program at Northeastern University,” said Maria K. Stein, director of Career Services at Northeastern. “Employers recognize that our high-caliber students and graduates are well equipped with the skills needed for success and that a Northeastern University education means candidates are prepared to enter their respective fields or future studies.”

Every year GE evaluates each of its 40 Executive schools when determining the recipient of the Partnership Award. The award is bestowed upon the center for career services that best displays the following qualities: is receptive to new ideas—“thinks outside the box”; helps to promote GE on campus; facilitates in making “key” connections with faculty, administration and students; and is a caring and progressive partner with GE.

Career Services at Northeastern University goes above and beyond in partnering with GE’s Recruiting & Staffing Services organization. This has been a long standing relationship and a key factor in GE’s selection of Northeastern University as an Executive school. Last year GE hired 17 full-time and 34 co-op students from Northeastern University. In total, GE employs 626 Northeastern alumni across the company.

The GE Partnership Award further underscores Northeastern University’s ranking as the nation’s No. 1 institution in career and job placement services according to a survey of Northeastern students for The Princeton Review’s annual college guide, “The Best 368 Colleges”.

On Thursday, October 2, representatives from more than 300 top companies and organizations had the opportunity to meet with Northeastern University’s talented students and graduates during the Mega Career Fair. The University’s fall career fair was a chance for students and graduates to explore exciting job, co-op, and internship prospects.
