WHAT: Huntington Avenue —also known as “The Avenue of the Arts” — will more than live up to its name when Northeastern hosts an exhibit of select metal and bronze sculptures by artists Rafael Consuegra and Ernesto Montenegro

WHEN: Exhibit: Thursday, September 20 to Monday, October 8
Opening Reception: Thursday, September 20 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm

WHERE: Krentzman Quadrangle, Northeastern University

WHY: Northeastern University is committed to bringing artists of note to campus and in enhancing its one-of-a-kind dedicated outdoor sculpture garden.

Miami-based Cuban-American artist Rafael Consuegra is known for his uncanny ability to breathe life into metal. His sculptures range in size from small scale work to monumental commissions and are a part of both private and public collections internationally.

“All of my sculptures are inspired by movement and balance” says Consuegra.

Ernesto Montenegro, the recipient of such prestigious awards as the Peter Abate Award and the Religious Sculpture Award of Monte Carlo’s Gran Prix d’Art Contemporan, is a diverse and talented artist. His work spans myriad styles from abstract to realistic. Montenegro’s sculpture can be found in many public and private collections throughout the world.

“Sculture that remains alive should have a dialogue between the spectator and the piece itself. If they are drawn to it by a question, I think that’s really important,” says Montenegro.

The exhibit is sponsored by Northeastern University and iced’SPRESSO.
