AUDIO: If you use the MBTA to commute to work, you know it can take a very long time to travel just a few miles. But, if you’re black, chances are your commute on the MBTA is longer than your white counterparts- to the tune of 66 hours longer per year if you take the bus to work.
A new set of statistics released by Northeastern University shows a huge racial gap among those who commute to work in Greater Boston. Callie Crossley spoke with the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy’s Stephanie Pollack about what causes this disparity and what the MBTA and the city could do to make transportation more accessible in the majority minority city.
