April showers bring…tons of can’t-miss campus events. Catch a baseball game, check out students’ research, attend an engaging lecture, and much more this month.

Xhibition Kitchen

This month, meet a world-renowned local chef or learn how to cook with whole grains and cranberries at cooking demonstrations in Xhibition Kitchen. The first of three events in April, Whole Grains with Maria Speck, is Wednesday, April 5 at noon in the Stetson West Eatery. On April 12, Barbara Lynch, H’13, visits XK for a cooking demonstration and to sign copies of her new book, Out of Line.

Myra Kraft Open Classroom

Throughout the spring semester, the Myra Kraft Open Classroom series will explore the food system both domestically and globally, focusing particularly on health, equity, and sustainability. The seminar series is free and open to the North­eastern com­mu­nity and the public. Classes are held on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. in 20 West Village F. The next class, on Wednesday, April 5, will focus on the possibilities and limits of urban agriculture.

NU Collegiate Alternative Investment Summit

Learn about alternative investments—including private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, and real estate—at the 5th annual Collegiate Alternative Investment Summit. The two-day event, for which registration is now closed, begins Friday, April 7 at 6 p.m. in the Alumni Center.

Demo Day

Take a look at the Northeastern-grown startups that have made it through a rigorous seven-week development program and help decide which teams will win $5,000 in prize money. Husky Startup Challenge Demo Day will be held on Monday, April 10 at 6 p.m. in the Curry Student Center Ballroom.

Boston Harbor and Inlands Science Symposium

For those curious about the latest research in metro Boston coastal ecosystems, the Boston Harbor and Inlands Science Symposium on Tuesday, April 11 and Wednesday, April 12 is a good place to start. Off-campus field trips will be held on Tuesday, and an on-campus, conference-style schedule is planned for Wednesday. The deadline to register is Saturday, April 8.

RISE: 2017

This year’s Research, Innovation, and Scholarship Expo will be held on Thursday, April 13 at 10 a.m. in Cabot Center. The annual event highlights the breadth and depth of Northeastern student and faculty research on campus. At RISE, more than 2,000 industry leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, and technology enthusiasts from diverse sectors engage with more than 400 of Northeastern’s solution-focused innovations. Register online in advance.

Service-Learning Expo

Learn about the varied work completed by students and service-learning partners this semester at the Spring 2017 Service-Learning Expo on Thursday, April 20 at 10 a.m. in the Curry Student Center Ballroom. Register online in advance.

Rainbow Graduation

Join the LGBTQA Resource Center in celebrating the accomplishments of LGBTQA students and graduates at this year’s Rainbow Graduation on Thursday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the Curry Student Center’s McLeod Suites. Participating graduates must register in advance.

The Market

Spend an afternoon sampling and shopping for unique food and beverage products, while connecting with the latest crop of Northeastern entrepreneurs, innovators, and business owners at The Market. The farmer’s market-style event will be held on Tuesday, April 25 at 11 a.m. in the Alumni Center.

Athletics

The warm weather signals the return of spring sports.

The baseball team will compete in the Beanpot semifinals at Boston College on Wednesday, April 5 at 3 p.m. The championship game will be held on Wednesday, April 19 at Fenway Park.

Women’s rowing will take to the water against crosstown rival Boston University on Saturday, April 22. And men’s rowing will go head-to-head against the Terriers for the Artlett Cup on Saturday, April 8. The team will also take on Harvard for the Smith Cup on Saturday, April 29.
