From politics to cooking, and from sports to entrepreneurship, there’s something for everyone on campus this month. Here’s our list of can’t-miss events in November.

Myra Kraft Open Classroom

This semester’s Open Classroom focuses on the 2016 pres­i­den­tial elec­tion. Weekly classes are held every Wednesday through Dec. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m., in West Vil­lage F, room 20. The next one is Wednesday, Nov. 2, which will focus on down ballot issues.

Classes on Nov. 9, Nov. 16, and Nov. 30 will focus on Election Day debriefing, reflections on the 2016 election, and President Barack Obama’s legacy, respectively. There is no ses­sion on Nov. 23 due to the Thanks­giving holiday.

Reach(OUT) LGBTQA+ Career Conference

The third annual Reach(OUT) LGBTQA+ Career Conference is on Friday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 5.

The university’s award-​​winning Reach (Out) LGBTQA+ Career Con­fer­ence will bring together LGBTQA+ stu­dents and industry pro­fes­sionals for dis­cus­sions around career devel­op­ment, iden­tity, and net­working as well as suc­cesses and chal­lenges in the workplace.

The event is free for Northeastern and Boston-area students with a college ID, though advance registration by Thursday is encouraged.

Homecoming

A weeklong celebration of all things Northeastern will take place from Sunday, Nov. 6, through Saturday, Nov. 12, during Homecoming 2016. Head over to the Curry Student Center on Nov. 6 to take a peek at some of the creations from the Homecoming Block Party Building Competition and stick around for trivia starting at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, Nov. 9, show off your Husky pride by wearing red and black throughout the day, and stop by the Curry Student Center Indoor Quad between 12 and 2 p.m. for the Homecoming festival, where there will be free food and games.

Many other events will be taking place throughout the week—including men’s and women’s basketball home openers against Boston University—and Amy Poehler will be on campus Thursday, Nov. 10, to headline the Homecoming lineup.

Xhibition Kitchen

The semes­ter­long Food Network-​​style series fea­tures cooking demon­stra­tions at the university’s Xhi­bi­tion Kitchen in Stetson Hall. On Tuesday, Nov. 8, at noon, chef Cal Peternell will give a tutorial from his book, A Recipe for Cooking, which includes meals meant to be shared with close family and good friends.

Veterans Day

The university’s annual Vet­erans Day cer­e­mony to honor North­eastern stu­dents and alumni who have served their country will take place on Friday, Nov. 11, at 2:30 p.m. at the Northeastern Uni­ver­sity Vet­erans Memo­rial across from the Egan Research Center on Neal F. Finnegan Plaza.

Air Force Maj. Gen. Dwyer Dennis, program executive officer for C3I and Networks at the Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts, will deliver the event’s keynote address. In his position, Dennis is responsible for more than 2,200 personnel as well as the acquisition execution of a $10.9 billion portfolio related to developing, deploying and sustaining Air Force, joint and coalition cyberspace, networks, cryptologic and data link systems to enable decisive combat operations.

The event will be held in the Raytheon Amphitheater in case of inclement weather.

Global Entrepreneurship Week

The Center for Entre­pre­neur­ship and Edu­ca­tion hosts campus events during Global Entre­pre­neur­ship Week, a cel­e­bra­tion of inno­va­tors and entre­pre­neurs around the world. This year, GEW will be held from Monday, Nov. 14, through Sunday, Nov. 20.

The semesterlong Husky Startup Challenge will culminate on Monday, Nov. 14, with Demo Day in the Curry Student Center, and other events will be held throughout the week—including NEXPO, IDEA’s annual venture showcase, on Thursday, Nov. 17.

The Future of…

This pres­i­den­tial speaker series hosted by Pres­i­dent Joseph E. Aoun explores what’s on the horizon for topics that shape our lives, such as food, dating, media, and trans­porta­tion. Held throughout the semester, the series offers oppor­tu­ni­ties for mem­bers of the North­eastern com­mu­nity to hear con­ver­sa­tions between Aoun and inno­va­tors in their respec­tive fields.

The latest installment will explore the future of eating with celebrity chef Mario Batali on Friday, Nov. 18, at 4 p.m. on the 17^th floor of East Village.

Northrop Grumman CEO talk

For expert insight, don’t miss a lec­ture by Wes Bush, CEO of Northrop Grumman. A con­ver­sa­tion between Bush and Pres­i­dent Joseph E. Aoun will be held on Monday, Nov. 21.

Athletics

November’s athletics lineup is packed with rivalries and opportunities to show off your school spirit.

Both the men’s and women’s bas­ket­ball teams will play their home openers against Boston Uni­ver­sity on Friday, Nov. 11, as part of the university’s annual Home­coming cel­e­bra­tion. The women’s team plays at 3 p.m. at Cabot Center, fol­lowed by the men’s team at 7 p.m. at Matthews Arena.

They’re not the only ones in action, though.

On Friday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m., the men’s hockey team will face off against rival Boston University in Matthews Arena.

Head back to Matthews Arena on Sunday, Nov. 20, and Saturday, Nov. 26, to see the women’s hockey team take on Boston Col­lege at 2 p.m. on both days. And on Tuesday, Nov. 29,  the men’s hockey team will take on the Eagles at 7 p.m.
