Super Bowl prompts friendly wager between Northeastern campuses

In honor of the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks facing off in Super Bowl XLIX this Sunday in Phoenix, Arizona, Senior Vice President and CEO of Northeastern’s Global Network Philomena Mantella and Northeastern-Seattle CEO Tayloe Washburn have placed a friendly wager on the outcome of the big game.

The winner will enjoy cuisine popular to the loser’s region. Washburn has already secured victory in one food-related wager this NFL postseason. After the Seahawks beat the Carolina Panthers earlier this month, Northeastern-Charlotte CEO Cheryl Richards sent some southern BBQ to the Pacific Northwest.

“It’s obvious the Patriots are the superior team,” Mantella said. “Your Boston Global Network Leadership Team in particular feels a strong connection with our boys from New England; they work hard, make the daring plays, and don’t let other people’s criticism get them down.”

“Seattle is a world leader in many respects in 2015,” Washburn noted, “including our Seahawks who are the reigning Super Bowl champions. We expect this success to continue on Sunday.”

The Super Bowl kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Sunday on NBC. There will be a Super Bowl viewing party at afterHOURS in the Curry Student Center with free food while supplies last.
